At the Pyeongchang Games, after three speedskaters from the Netherlands won the gold, silver, and bronze medals, attendees used the moment to send a message to President Donald Trump.
On Saturday, Dutch Olympians Carlijn Achtereekte, Ireen Wust, and Antoinette de Jong won the top places in the women’s 3,000-meter speed skating race, which makes it the first time at the 2018 Games that only one country was represented on the podium.
According to Mashable, the Dutch television channel NOS captured an image of two women holding a Netherlands flag with a message targeted at Trump.
“Sorry Mr. President, The Netherlands FIRST … and 2nd … and 3rd!” the flag said in a possible nod to Trump’s “America First” policy.

According to Yahoo Sports, it’s likely that the two women were reprimanded for the flag’s signage because the International Olympic Committee prohibits political statements from being made.
Cartoonist Marc-Jan Janssen also picked up the concept and illustrated an enraged Trump sitting in front of a TV watching the Netherlands sweep the event. Cartoon Trump called it “fake news” and repeated that it’s “America first.”
